  • Fees:

A deposit MUST accompany a registration. If it doesn't, your registration will be held until a check has arrived, and the postmark date of the check will determine your place regarding late fees and/or waiting list status.

There is no daily rate lower than $40 per day ($35 per day if you are between 18-25) regardless of how little you actually make. You can apply for work exchange (which pays $9/hr), for which you will probably miss some class time to accomplish your committment.

If you are registering for either 7 or 11 days please only multiply your daily rate by 6 or 10 respectively. There is no payment for the last day since this an all community clean up day to put camp back better than we found it.

    My check hasn't cleared:

Checks are processed in large groups and may not be deposited for approximately 3 weeks after it has arrived to the registrar. The first batch usually won't clear before July 7th.

Registration Options. or "Can I mix and match days?":

There are 4 standards options for attending camp, please refer to your flyer or our web site for the exact dates.

Customized registrations are discouraged and cannot be guaranteed at least August 1st. This means that you will not know until at the earliest August 1st whether you will be able to come exactly when you want. Since camp has had a wait list for at least the last 3 years it is unlikely that customized registrations can be approved. If you only write in customized dates you will be wait listed.

Also you cannot mix and match registration options, for example asking for the weekend *and* the last 7 days is NOT an option.

    Confirmation:

Email confirmations will start going out sometime after July 1st. This confirmation will include all the information you need. If you have no email address a paper letter will be sent. If your email bounces back a paper letter will be sent.

    Work Study and Scholarship:

You must register for camp before engaging in any conversations with Robin Williams, our work exchange and scholarship liaison. If you are not registered nothing will be done to slot you into any work. To contact Robin Williams, 617 928-0415 or robin-w@comcast.net

You must pay for camp entirely by the start of camp and will then be reimbursed for the hours worked.

There are no scholarships given without work exchange hours being performed. To apply for scholarship you must include a letter explaining your situation and amount requested. Please include letter with registration or send separately to: Scholarship Committee c/o Samantha Armer, 474 40th Street, Oakland, CA 94609.

    Arrival times:

The 1st Four Days: you can arrive after 6pm on Wednesday or any time on Thursday The 1st Weekend: you can arrive after 6pm on Friday The Last Seven Days: you can arrive after 5pm on Sunday The Whole Camp: see the 1st four days

    Camp is Full:

It doesn't matter whether you are tenting or planning to stay in a cabin, camp is still full.

If you hear that camp is full (either from the registrar's voice mail or email response or through the grapevine) and you want a chance to come, send in your registration as soon as possible since your place in the wait list is determined by postmark date (and randomized number, and when you want to come and how many people are ahead of you and how many cancellations there are, and location of Pluto in the 7th house).

Offering to take more Community Service will not affect your place on the wait list.

Offering dedicated service and daily massages to the Registrar will not affect your place on the wait list (but will endear you forever).

    Wait List:

Your check is not deposited until you are moved off the wait list and are registered.

If you cancel before you are registered we hold none of your money.

If we cannot accommodate you, we hold none of your money.

If your registration is for several people with different registration options the whole registration is wait listed until we can accommodate everyone.

There is no magic formula to getting off the wait list. Getting off the wait list a trying time for all involved and we ask that you practice your patience while waiting for the registrar to call you. Spots open as others cancel. As there are 4 options for attending there is a lot of juggling, mathematical probability and luck involved. Patience, grasshopper.

    Cancellations and Substitutions:

If you inform the registrar by July 18th that you can't attend you will get back half the deposit amount. If you paid in full you will get everything but half the deposit returned.

If you cancel after July 18th nothing is returned except under extraordinary circumstances and you must write to the registrar and she will forward your request if necessary to the registration committee to take your case under advisement.

If you cancel it doesn't mean your friend can simply take your place. If you know someone is going to cancel it doesn't mean you now have a slot. See the wait list section for more details.

Substitutions are not permitted under any circumstance. Period. Really. Even if it's your partner, daughter, ex-in-law, whoever.

    Young People's Program:

All persons under the age 18 must be registered with YPP, it's Maine state law.

If your child is 12 months old or under when attending camp and absolutely will not spend any time in YPP there is no fee necessary, but still needs to be listed on your form.

It is essential and crucial that you fill out the forms required by the YPP program and return them as requested.

So You Think You Want to Teach:

All our teachers have been hired, but if you really, really want to check please contact Leslie Staudinger at teachers@dne.org. We have to tell you, really, all the teachers have been hired by the time you are reading this.

    Rides to Camp:

There are ride share coordinators by region and their information will be in your confirmation letter. The registrar has am very limited in time to help with this area.

    Camp Store:

If you want to sell things, please indicate this on the registration form. If you forget or changed your mind and now want to do this, please contact Linda Lindgren 603 924-9609

    Fee for Service:

You're a body worker or other service provider (massage, reiki, tarot reader, face painter, etc.) and want to offer your time in exchange for money, indicate this on the registration form. If you forget or changed your mind and now want to do this, please contact Michael Hayes 212 473-0166.
