Fee Information (Refer to this section while filling out registration form):

Determining a method for calculating camp fees has always presented an interesting dilemma! If we charge a fixed amount for each day of camp, some people would need to work many more hours than others because people are paid vastly different amounts of money for their work. If we charge a percentage of income, people earning more feel they are subsidizing people who are earning less.

Our goals are fairness, paying our bills, and simplicity. What follows is our current best effort at meeting these goals. There are several ways of sharing the cost of a day at camp. Here are three possible ways:
  1. Equalize the dollar amount for each person. Each person would pay $60 per day.
  2. Equalize the % of income for each person. Each person would pay 1/4 of 1% of their income.
  3. Equalize the number of hours each person works to pay for camp. Each person would pay 5 hours of his/her earnings.
Keeping the above in mind, you need to choose a daily fee. Look at the income chart below to determine your daily rate. (If you pool your income with others, add your incomes together and divide by the number of adults.)
Adult and Young Adult Daily Fees
Income Range $0 - 25K $25 - 45K $46 - 65K $66 - 85K Over $85K
Adult Daily Fee Range $45 - 64 $65 - 85 $86 - 104 $105 - 123 $124 - 158
18-25 Yr Old Daily Fee Range $40 - 61 $65 - 85 $86 - 104 $105 - 123 $124 - 158

Young People's Daily Fees
  Under 6 mos 6 mos - 12 y Teen no parent
Daily Fee free $29 $35

Adjustments - Nobody knows your life like you do. The choices we all make around earning money, contributing to a better world, and fulfilling our responsibilities while dancing through life are a maze. Adjust your daily rate upward based on assets (owning property, having a trust fund or inherited wealth, a retirement plan, etc.) or downward based on responsibilities (healthcare, tuition, dependents, unusual losses, etc.)

Consider what DNE means to you and others. Pay the amount you feel is appropriate. Please do not choose a fee below $45 ($40 for young adults) or less than what you earn in one hour, whichever is greater.

What do we mean by "what you earn in one hour?" - In calculating your hourly earning, include time you spend in preparation, accounting, phone work, etc. For example, if you earn $40 per hour to teach a class and you take an hour preparation time for each hour of paid work, your hourly rate is actually $20.

Take the adjusted number and place it on the line for Daily Fee, where you will multiply it by the number of days you will attend camp.

DNE Future Fund - This year's adult fees include a $1/day charge for the DNE Future Fund, intended to help us build a reserve for the future. If you object you may reduce your daily fee by $1.

If you cannot afford $45 per day ($40 for young adults), you will need to apply for Work Exchange / Scholarship. Please see that section.

DNE Membership - This is a chance to make a clear choice that DNE is important to you. Yes, you have your neighborhood, work, family, friends. Yet, DNE is where you dance and grow; where there's a joyous past and a hopeful future to work and play together as men and women, kids and adults-dancers. There's a small work requirement and financial commitment. Even if you are not coming to summer camp, use the registration form to renew or to become a DNE member. Remember, membership is an annual commitment. You have to renew even if you have been a member before.
