  • Fees:

A deposit MUST accompany a registration. If registering via postal mail, and there is no payment, your registration will be held until a payment has arrived, and the postmark date of the payment will determine your place regarding late fees and/or waiting list status.

There is no daily rate lower than $47 per day ($41 per day if you are between 18-25) regardless of how little you actually make. You can apply for work exchange (which pays $11/hr), for which you will probably miss some class time to accomplish your committment.

If you are registering for Last Four or All 11 days, please only multiply your daily rate by 3 or 10, respectively. There is no charge for the last day since this an all community clean up day to put camp back better than we found it.

    PayPal Details:

We believe a fair number of campers will take advantage of the convenience of registering and paying online. PayPal will deduct your payment from your account when you register. You can pay just your deposit, or your whole total, whichever you'd prefer.

PayPal charges for every transaction. For fairness, and for keeping DNE's costs as low as possible, each transaction fee needs to be covered by the camper. A simple fee of 3 percent will be added to your PayPal payment for camp, for whatever the amount is you are paying, from Membership renewal to all 11 days of camp for a whole family. The online registration process will automatically calculate that for you.

It's pretty easy and quite secure to use PayPal. If you don't have an account with them already, you can create an account by going to the PayPal website. Sign up for PayPal here.

PayPal pulls your payment from your credit, debit or checking account right away. If you cancel and need your deposit returned, it will be happily returned according to the schedule.

(There is a way of reducing PayPal fees if you select to pay using an Echeck once you get into the Paypal payment system. Normally when you pay with PayPal, you’ll make an “instant transfer,” but if you look closely at the screen just before you submit a payment, you’ll find a “Payment Method” section on the display.

(If you have a checking account attached to your PayPal account, there should be a “Change” option, and if you click on that, you should see an “eCheck” option in the list of funding options. If you use the eCheck payment method, and we confirm that the fees PayPal charged us were reduced as a result, you’ll get a credit back for part of the savings, which the bookkeeper will determine. The savings may be substantial if you’re sending more than about $300 by PayPal.

(An eCheck works just like a check; the money is debited from your checking account, and when that clears, it is transferred to DNE. That takes about four days, but that’s OK with DNE, especially since it means lower fees charged. Please do make sure you can cover the amount you pay from your checking account, as the charge will not be made to your credit card if the debit fails to clear, and you’d need to pay any bounced-check fees PayPal charges to DNE.

(DNE’s objective is to break even on PayPal fees, but we’d also like to keep the fees to you as low as possible. You can help achieve both objectives by looking for the eCheck option when you make your PayPal payment.)

    My check hasn't cleared:

Checks are processed in groups and may not be deposited for approximately three weeks after they have been received by the Registrar. The first batch usually won't clear before July 7th.

Registration Options. or "Can I mix and match days?":

There are four scheduling options for attending camp. Dates are set out on the main camp page.

Customized registrations are discouraged and cannot be guaranteed until at least August 2nd. This means that you will not know until at the earliest August 2nd whether you will be able to come exactly when you want. Since camp has had a wait list in years past it might be likely that customized registrations can be approved. If you only write in customized dates you will be wait listed.

This year, we have a Special Combination Package of the Weekend and Last Four Days -- great for those who can't take as many days off during the week!

    Confirmation:

Email confirmations will start going out sometime after July 5th. This confirmation will include all the information you need. If you have no email address a paper letter will be sent. If your email bounces back a paper letter will be sent.

    Work Study and Scholarship:

You must register for camp before engaging in any conversations with the Registrar about work exchange and scholarship. If you are not registered nothing will be done to slot you into any work.

You must pay for camp entirely by the start of camp and will then be reimbursed for the hours worked.

There are no scholarships given without work exchange hours being performed. To apply for scholarship you must include a letter explaining your situation and amount requested. Please include letter with registration or send separately to the scholarship contact listed on the Registration/fees page.

    Arrival times:

The First Weekend, First Week, and All 11 Days options: you may arrive after 6 p.m. on Friday or any time on Saturday

The Final Four Days: you may arrive after noon on Friday (in time for the Community Meeting at 1 p.m.)

    Camp is Full:
It doesn't matter whether you are tenting or planning to stay in a cabin, camp is still full.

If you hear that camp is full (either from the Registrar's voice mail or email response or through the grapevine) and you want a chance to come, send in your registration as soon as possible since your place in the wait list is determined by postmark date (and randomized number, and when you want to come and how many people are ahead of you and how many cancellations there are, and location of Pluto in the 7th house).

Offering to take more Community Service will not affect your place on the wait list.

Offering dedicated service and daily massages to the Registrar will not affect your place on the wait list (but will endear you forever).

    Wait List:

Your check is not deposited until you are moved off the wait list and are registered. Your PayPal deposit is pulled when you pay online.

Paying by check, if you cancel before you are registered we hold none of your money. If we cannot accommodate you, we hold none of your money.

If your registration is for several people with different registration options the whole registration is wait listed until we can accommodate everyone.

There is no magic formula to getting off the wait list. Getting off the wait list a trying time for all involved and we ask that you practice your patience while waiting for the Registrar to call you. Spots open as others cancel. As there are 4 options for attending there is a lot of juggling, mathematical probability and luck involved. Patience, grasshopper.

    Cancellations and Substitutions:

If you inform the Registrar by July 16th that you can't attend you will get back half the deposit amount. If you paid in full you will get everything but half the deposit returned.

If you cancel after July 16th nothing is returned except under extraordinary circumstances and you must write to the Registrar and she will forward your request if necessary to the registration committee to take your case under advisement.

If you cancel it doesn't mean your friend can simply take your place. If you know someone is going to cancel it doesn't mean you now have a slot. See the wait list section for more details.

Substitutions are not permitted under any circumstance. Period. Really. Even if it's your partner, daughter, ex-in-law, whoever.

See PayPal Details for return of deposit.

    Young People's Program:

In order to prepare our kitchen and YPP staffing, all children under 18 must be pre-registered through a two-step process.

    • First Step: Register your family either online or by mail.
    • Second Step: When your registration has been confirmed, download the Medical Release Form and Health Form (see links below). Complete these forms and bring to camp, as it saves much time and hassle if you bring the forms filled out. NO PACKET WILL BE MAILED TO YOU.
If your child is 12 months old or under when attending camp and absolutely will not spend any time in YPP there is no fee necessary, but still needs to be listed on your form.

IMPORTANT PARENTAL INFORMATION (click on links for printable PDF files)
It is DNE policy that all young people under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Questions about YPP (ages 12 and under)? Contact Susan McGinn at ypp@dne.org.

Questions concerning the Teen Program (ages 13 to 17)? Contact the J'Mae and Teens Committee at teens@dne.org.

    Interested in Teaching?

All our teachers have been hired, but if you really, really want to check please contact the Teachers' Committee at teachers@dne.org. We have to tell you, really, all the teachers have been hired by the time you are reading this.

We are offering more class times for community-offered classes, though, so teaching is a possibility!

    Rides to Camp:

Transportation information is posted here. Your confirmation materials also will include information about how to sign up for ride sharing.
Please note: The new location is further away from any public transportation. Some who travel from afar will need to plan accordingly.

Camp Store/Fee for Service (You must be a DNE member to sell goods or services at camp):

If you want to sell things in the camp store, please contact the Store Committee at
    campstore@dne.org.

If you're a body worker or other service provider (massage, reiki, tarot reader, face painter, etc.) and want to offer your time in exchange for money, please contact fee for service coordinator at feeforservice@dne.org.
