Registration and Fees for DNE Summer Camp 2010
Registering online is our preference. It will save paper, time, effort and more, as well as get you your first choice far more efficiently.
Also, we'd like to believe that we are insulated from inflation, but it has affected DNE as it has the rest of the world. Please make sure to check your daily rate amount on the sliding scale chart.
Camp Attendance Options - There are just 2 options left for camp attendance: Last7 days or a custom option that is a subset of the last 7 days. First Four days of camp is closed to new registrations.
*See Community Meeting Custom options are available for an additional $25 flat fee per
person, but as all is first-come first-served, customized options,
too, are not guaranteed. Register early for first priority.
Work Exchange/Scholarship - Work study is available at $11.25/hour. You must send in your registration form and pay your full camp fee prior to camp. You will be paid before you leave camp, or a check will be mailed to you. Partial scholarships are also available. A written request can be submitted with your registration, or sent by July 11 to the Scholarship Committee, c/o Samantha Armer, 95 Mount Warner Road, Hadley, MA 01035. Apply early, positions fill up quickly and we only have a limited number. For more information on work exchange / scholarship contact workexchange@dne.org Registration Changes -
If you change your registration, your fee will be calculated using the
fee schedule in effect on the date of the change - not the
date
of your original postmark. To contact the Registrar: 95 Mount Warner Road Hadley, MA 01035 Phone 646-522-5869 You can leave messages at any hour, but between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. EST is best if you need to speak with Samantha directly. She can also be reached at registrar@dne.org. Fee Information (Refer to this section while filling out registration form): Determining a method for calculating camp fees has always presented an interesting dilemma! If we charge a fixed amount for each day of camp, some people would need to work many more hours than others because people are paid vastly different amounts of money for their work. If we charge a percentage of income, people earning more feel they are subsidizing people who are earning less. Our goals are fairness, paying our bills, and simplicity. What follows is our current best effort at meeting these goals. There are several ways of sharing the cost of a day at camp. Here are three possible ways:
Adjustments - Nobody knows your life like you do. The choices we all make around earning money, contributing to a better world, and fulfilling our responsibilities while dancing through life are a maze. Adjust your daily rate upward based on assets (owning property, having a trust fund or inherited wealth, a retirement plan, etc.) or downward based on responsibilities (healthcare, tuition, dependents, unusual losses, etc.) Consider what DNE means to you and others. Pay the amount you feel is appropriate. Please do not choose a fee below $48 ($42 for young adults) or less than what you earn in one hour, whichever is greater. What do we mean by "what you earn in one hour?" - In calculating your hourly earning, include time you spend in preparation, accounting, phone work, etc. For example, if you earn $40 per hour to teach a class and you take an hour preparation time for each hour of paid work, your hourly rate is actually $20. Take the adjusted number and place it on the line for Daily Fee, where you will multiply it by the number of days you will attend camp. DNE Future Fund - The adult fees include a $1/day charge for the DNE Future Fund, intended to help us build a reserve for the future. If you object you may reduce your daily fee by $1. If you cannot afford $48 per day ($42 for young adults), you will need to apply for Work Exchange / Scholarship. Please see that section. DNE Membership - This is a chance to make a clear choice that DNE is important to you. Yes, you have your neighborhood, work, family, friends. Yet, DNE is where you dance and grow; where there's a joyous past and a hopeful future to work and play together as men and women, kids and adults-dancers. There's a small work requirement and financial commitment. Even if you are not coming to summer camp, use the registration form to renew or to become a DNE member. Remember, membership is an annual commitment. You have to renew even if you have been a member before.
