- If you need to cancel
your registration, contact the Registrar (email registrar@dne.org or
call 646-522-5869 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. EST.)
before July 7, and 50% of your deposit will be cheerfully refunded.
Deposits will not be refunded after July 7.
Work Exchange/Scholarship
-
Work study is available at $11.60/hour. You must send in your registration
form and pay your full camp fee prior to camp. Your workstudy will reduce
your registration fee. The resulting credit will be given to you before
you leave camp, or a check will be mailed to you. Partial scholarships
are also available. A written request can be submitted with your registration,
or sent by July 11 to the Scholarship Committee, c/o Samantha Armer,
240 Mountain Rest Road, New Paltz NY 12561. Apply early, positions
fill up quickly and we only have a limited number. For more information
on work exchange / scholarship contact workexchange@dne.org
Registration Changes -
If you change your registration, your fee will be calculated using the
fee schedule in effect on the date of the change - not the
date
of your original postmark.
Substitutions -
One person may not be substituted for another on the registration form,
even if they are members of the same family.
Please
consult our "frequently asked questions" before contacting the
Registrar.

Fee Information (Refer to this section while filling
out registration form):
Determining a method for calculating camp fees has always presented an
interesting dilemma! If we charge a fixed amount for each
day of camp, some people would need to work many more hours than others
because people are paid vastly different amounts of
money for their work. If we charge a percentage of income, people
earning more feel they are subsidizing people who are earning
less.
Our goals are fairness, paying our bills, and simplicity. What follows
is our current best effort at meeting these goals. There are
several ways of sharing the cost of a day at camp. Here are three
possible ways:
- Equalize the dollar
amount for each person. Each person would pay $66 per day.
- Equalize the % of
income for each person. Each person would pay 1/4 of 1% of their
income.
- Equalize the number of
hours each person works to pay for camp. Each person would pay 5 hours
of his/her earnings.
Keeping the above in mind,
you need to choose a daily fee. Look at the income chart below to
determine your daily rate. (If you
pool your income with others, add your incomes together and divide by
the number of adults.)

Adjustments -
Nobody knows your life like you do. The choices we all make around
earning money, contributing to a better world, and fulfilling
our responsibilities while dancing through life are a maze. Adjust your
daily rate upward based on assets (owning property,
having a trust fund or inherited wealth, a retirement plan, etc.) or
downward based on responsibilities (healthcare, tuition,
dependents, unusual losses, etc.)
Consider what DNE means to you and others. Pay the amount you feel
is appropriate. Please do not choose a fee below $49 ($43
for young adults) or less than what you earn in one hour, whichever
is greater.
What do we mean by "what you earn in one hour?" -
In calculating your hourly earning, include time you spend in
preparation, accounting, phone work, etc. For example, if you earn
$40 per hour to teach a class and you take an hour preparation time for
each hour of paid work, your hourly rate is actually $20.
Take the adjusted number and place it on the line for Daily Fee,
where you will multiply it by the number of days you will
attend camp.
DNE Future Fund -
The adult fees include a $1/day charge for the DNE Future Fund,
intended to help us build a reserve for the future. If you
object you may reduce your daily fee by $1.
If you cannot afford $49 per day ($43 for young adults), you will need
to apply for Work Exchange / Scholarship. Please see that
section.
DNE Membership - Only recognized "DNE Members" can
steer the direction of DNE through the formal consensus process. DNE
Members demonstrate their commitment to the organization through significant
donations of time and money each year.
Time: DNE Members take on significant volunteer positions of 15
or more hours each year.
Money: DNE Members contribute an extra $15 or more
dollars to DNE each year.
The above metrics are averages. If you have contributed more than
your share of time or money as a DNE Member in recent years, take
a break, and we will still consider you a Member!
